Very Italian, very mountain, and very nature

Italy is full of hidden Alpine treasures and this is certainly one of them. Best accessed via Milan, you drive up a long valley lined with pine trees until you arrive in the quaint village of Champoluc. This resort is worth a detour if you want nature and authenticity rather than flash and glitz. The resort is well known for its access to Alanya and Gressonay, two other valleys with excellent expert skiing but there is something for all levels here.

Long known to Italians of Milan and northern Italy as well as to fans of challenging ski resorts, Champoluc is little known to the rest of the world. It is almost better like this as it has retained its beautiful character without succumbing to the changes that visitors bring to mountain resorts. The mountain scenery, the off-piste itineraries , the long and numerous cross-country tracks through pristine forests present a wild and beautiful nature.

The lift system is updated every season and there is an efficient network of snow cannons that ensure a snow of good quality from December to mid-April. The night life will not satisfy those seeking sophistication, but for those who love good Italian mountain food and traditional restaurants there are plenty of surprises.
