Villa Popas Sintra, Portugal

Restored farmhouse on Portugal’s untamed silver coast

This luxury villa is located within the greater Sintra natural conservation area on the outskirts of Magoito, a small village that offers a glimpse of rural Portugal. Built in the early 1900's, this was once a working farm and is set on 11’400 square metres of land. It is secluded and private - a true escape from the fast pace of modern life. Sintra town is a fifteen minute drive and Lisbon and the airport can be reached within half an hour. While not directly on the beach, Praia do Mogoito can be reached with a ten minute walk from the villa.

The current owners bought the villa 5 years ago, returning it to their family as it had once belonged to their grandparents. There are two barns and a chapel attached to the main house and all have been painstakingly and lovingly restored by the new owners using the highest quality materials and maintaining the feel and charm of an old farmhouse while providing modern comforts and luxury. The original wine press has been incorporated as a feature into what is today an entertainment room with a pool table and flatscreen TV. The original hand-painted tiles throughout the villa have been kept and beautifully restored and the water well has been glassed over and is a feature in one of the bathrooms. The decor is simple with neutral coloured sofas and discreet artworks on a combination of broad beamed wooden and tiled flooring, with exposed bricks and high beamed ceilings giving a relaxing atmosphere that is reminiscent of years gone by. The tennis court and swimming pool have shaded seating areas where you can dine al fresco or simply relax in the landscaped gardens.
