Villa Aidan Sardinia, Italy
Contemporary comfort in Sardinia
The villa, built in 2008, is located in the secluded resort of Porto Raphael, a thirty minute drive from Porto Cervo. Set on the hillside the villa has views over the Mediterranean to La Maddalena Island as well as over the bay, which is frequently dotted with boats as this is a popular haunt for sailing enthusiasts. The famous Piazzetta with its sandy beach and close by restaurants is a five minute walk from the villa, while the well known beach of Costa Serena is a five minute drive away. Peace and tranquillity are the reasons why most of the international jet setters prefer this village to the more well known and populated resorts of the Costa Smeralda.
The design of the villa is very modern with clean lines and open spaces. Large glass windows maximise the views and bring in plenty of light. The over-riding theme of the design is a play on colours that express joy and gaiety. The facade is painted in three different colours and these have been carried through into the decor of the villa with some of the interior walls painted in ochre and red, with coloured mosaic tiles in the bathrooms and with brightly coloured bed linen. The sitting room has a large, grey, four seater sofa and small “bucket” armchairs on plain parquet flooring. The furniture is cleverly placed against the walls and decorative objects have been kept to a minimum giving a feeling of spaciousness to this moderately sized room. Shelves have been built into many of the walls and are full of books, giving a welcoming and homely atmosphere. There is a covered terrace with a table for outside dining and there are comfortable sun loungers around the pool. This is an ideal choice for a couple or a family with older children looking for a secluded getaway.
