Villa Coco Cannes, France

Contemporary masterpiece tucked away above Cannes

This luxury property is tucked away on a private domain between Cannes and Mougins with views across the plains to the Mediterranean. The domain is gated and has less than 20 houses, each with large gardens affording privacy from one another. This villa is set in a 7’000 square metre garden with manicured lawns surrounding the house, while the rest of the garden has been left in a natural state with lavender bushes, pine and palm trees. The villa is a contemporary architectural masterpiece designed by a Japanese architect , Yoshi Katsumi, with giant palm trees on the terrace that have been incorporated into the design as they extend up through the overhanging roof.

The interior has been decorated in keeping with the linear architectural style of the villa with rectangular tables and geometrically shaped leather sofas in black and creams. The living area of the villa is open plan with a mezzanine area reached via suspended concrete steps. Massive metal framed windows reflect the light making this a bright and airy villa, with rich, cherry-wood floors. The six en suite bedrooms are luxuriously decorated, mainly in blacks and greys, with thick pile rugs and soft leather headboards. The large terrace in front of the villa has shaded areas with modern rattan-style tables and chairs for outside dining. The poolside has numerous sun loungers with large cream umbrellas providing shade. For a relaxing evening’s entertainment, there is an unusual home cinema room with a dramatic star-effect ceiling.
