Careyes Mexico

The Jewel of Mexico's Pacific Coast

Careyes, located on Mexico's Pacific coast between Puerto Vallarta and Manzanillo, is the creation of Eduardo Brignone, a visionary who dreamed of preserving a large stretch of pristine coast by developing it without the excesses of most coastal developments. It is a much sough after destination for both Mexican as well as European families for its social life, its weather, and the beauty of its homes.

Although there are a few eye-sores that have integrated themselves into the coastline over the years, mainly in the guise of hotel complexes, this remains one of the world's most beautiful seaside communities and we salute the work of the Brignone family and particularly their efforts to develop a natural reserve for turtles and other endangered species in this area.

You come here for the beautiful seas, the fishing, the golf, the social life, or just to relax. You will not find shopping boutiques other than hotel shops so bring what you think you will need with you. Evenings tend to be more formal and days to be devoted to beachwear. The style of building here is often around a palapa or thatched room with or without walls and is breath-taking if you add in the views and a few of the touches that the Brignones incorporated with brilliance.

it is a bit of a trek to get here from Europe or anywhere for that matter but well worth the effort. Christmas and New Year are packed and make sure you know someone to get invited to the right parties.
